The Habitat for Humanity Azusa Restore is nearing its 10th year of business within the Irwindale and Azusa districts. The Azusa Restore is a non-profit home improvement store and donation center whose proceeds are used to build homes, communities and hope Iocally and around the world, helping to create a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Restores are discount stores that sell donated, new and used building materials at a fraction of the normal, retail price. Customers get to enjoy not only affordable prices, but also a large variety of donated goods. With the help of local donations made by generous people - including businesses, homeowners and contractors - we are able to support San Gabriel Valley Habitat for humanity's mission to build and maintain affordable homes for families in our community. Proceeds of every sale go to support the affordable housing mission in San Gabriel Valley.
To date, the Azusa ReStore has been selected four times as an honoree for the Environmental Waste Reduction Award - the most recent of which was October 2017. To this end, the Azusa Restore has diverted up to approximately 500 tons of waste within the lrwindale and Azusa districts. This diversion tactic not only promotes greener business practices, but it also encourages smarter consumption of products within the community. Through the purchase of reusable goods at the Azusa ReStore, not only does the community and environment benefit from a greener shopping culture, but it also benefits through directly contributing to our affordable housing model.
The San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity affiliate partners with the Irwindale Chamber of Commerce and enjoys the relationship building and exposure that the Chamber provides to our Affiliate. More still, participation in the Irwindale Chamber offers our Azusa Restore the opportunity to expand our donor and customer networks. In Fiscal Year 2017 alone, the Azusa Restore was able to contribute over $300K in proceeds to the affordable housing motel that the San Gabriel Habitat for Humanity Affiliate sustains. This contribution strengthens every dollar that is donated by our generous donors and empowers a spirit of consumer giving within the community.
The San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity has been a member of the Irwindale Chamber of Commerce for over 9 years and participates with the Chamber's Non Profit Alliance.
