with many law enforcement agencies, supporting numerous public safety efforts and
programs in the region. In addition, Athens supports many community organizations,
including the VFW, Kiwanis, YWCA, Boys and Girls Clubs, Rotary Clubs, Food Banks, and
various youth sports programs

Kathy White was on the Board for 4 years and was Irwindale Business Person of the Year 2 times. She participates in the Golf Committee as Chair and Co-Chair.
CCFF are Cornerstone Member since 2013. They Support the Irwindale Educational Foundation.
Cory’s Kitchen has been helping those in need for over 20 years. In July of 2001, Cory’s Kitchen incorporated as a non-profit, charitable organization (501(c)3) called Cory’s Kitchen, Inc. They have a core group of about 200 volunteers including counselors, food handlers, typists, data entry operators, and drivers. Additionally, the local Christian College (Azusa Pacific University), local high schools, and several local churches supply a steady stream of new volunteers each week to help them with their task.
Cory’s Kitchen provides emergency food to families in need. They help their neighbors with food, diapers, and toiletries to help prevent homelessness. They also help their homeless neighbor Monday- Wednesday and Friday with fresh fruits, veggies, and sandwiches.
Cory’s Kitchen clients receive more than food. Counselors assess their needs and refer them to jobs and other services, such as: continued education, clothing services, legal services and counseling.
They partner with YMCA to provide food for the high school events in the summer. They also help other organizations with school supplies and other items.
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ACTIVITY:
Cory’s Kitchen Food Pantry has been a member of The Irwindale Chamber of Commerce for over 9 years. They are part of the Non-Profit Alliance committee. Frances Gilek, Operations Manager, is very involved with the Chamber and attends numerous events throughout the year.
They also participate in “The Spirit of Giving” during the Holidays. The Spirit of Giving gives all Non-Profit members the opportunity to submit 3 wishes for which other business members can make come true. In 2018, Cory’s Kitchen Food Pantry received 2 out of 3 wishes.
Through their membership, they have made several connections. One of their BIGGEST donors is Southern California Edison, which are chamber members.
BUSINESS ACCOMPLISHMENTS: State special recognitions or projects, length of time in business and demonstrated leadership.The Irwindale Lions Club Started in 1964 and continues to this day Although Small in Membership the Club is growing and always seeking new members.
COMMUNITY SERVICE: Participation in the Irwindale Educational Foundation, civic and service organizations, charitable activities, religious groups, educational institutions & other involvements, such as youth groups. The Irwindale Lions for many years was a sponsor of the Irwindale Scholarship Foundation, They continue to raise funds through proceeds from their Firework Stand and “ Rootin For Kids” Bike Ride. This benefits the City of Hope, Pepe Miranda Scholarship Foundation and needy families with food Gift Cards.
The Irwindale Lions Club Is a strong supporter and sponsor of the Terisita Pines Camp in Wrightwood. This is a camp for all including the Blind and deaf.
The Irwindale Lions Sponsored Sierra Vista High School “Leos Club” and it was chartered with 53 Members. The students got to help Lions with Rose Parade Float decorating for the first time.
The Lions also collect used eyeglasses to be refurbished and donated to those with vision problems.
