The Irwindale Brewery has been proudly brewing great beer for the past 32 years. Coors Light passed Budweiser as the number 2 beer in the nation! This is the first time that Budweiser has not been first AND second in over two decades. What makes this even more special in Irwindale is that about 50% of their output is Coors Light product. Company-wide, they received 286 medals at the Great American Beer and the World Beer Cup Festivals which speaks volumes to the quality of their beers!
The Irwindale Brewery has been recognized by the Irwindale Chamber Environmental Committee for their continuous sustainability efforts. They have received both local and national recognition for their water reduction efforts. They have also received State Grants for additional Water Reduction Projects. Over the years, MillerCoors has pursued a major effort to reduce raw energy consumption and continues to lead the industry in energy reduction efforts, currently installing a 3 Megawatt Solar Panel System that will product about 26% of their purchased energy. They have also been recognized by the State of California for their outstanding Employee Training Program.
The employees at the Irwindale Brewery actively participate in several community events throughout the year. For the past 25 years, MillerCoors has been a major sponsor for the Pasadena Black History Parade. Each year, 10-15 employees volunteer to host a booth at the end of the parade which includes prize giveaways and the promotion of the brewery and the beer drinker’s responsibility to the community. Gilbert Ruiz is the Vice Chair for the IEF and has proudly hosted the IEF annual BBQ and other events at the brewery. In 2014, the Irwindale Brewery employees have pledged over $60,000 to the United Way, 206 pairs of shoes and 100 backpacks filled with school supplies to Shoes that Fit, 160 volunteers helped clean the beach for the annual Coastal Clean-up event, raised money for KARE youth league with an employee Basketball Tournament, held a food drive for two local organizations, and are holding a toy drive for another non-profit organization, and sponsored a beer garden for the Azusa Canyon Race. They were the Title Sponsor for the 2014 Baker to Vegas Relay Race, sponsored multiple military functions, and have sponsored over 120 events as a beverage sponsor. They honored their Veteran Employees with a Pub Event recognizing the over 30 Veterans that work at the brewery. These Veterans designed a memorial that will stand next to the US and California flags at the entrance. This is just one way they recognize and support employee driven activities.
