Neighborhood Homework House has been in the business of serving students and families of Azusa since 1997. What started from two women with a desire to help local students at Henry Dalton Elementary School has now grown into a non-profit organization that serves students from the eleven elementary schools, three middle schools, and both high schools in Azusa. They have 200 volunteers each year to help Azusa's economically and educationally at-risk PK-12 students to advance academically in a supportive setting.
NHH has been recognized by the City of Azusa, Assembly members: Hernandez, Chavez, and Torres as well as Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez. They are members of three local Chambers of Commerce.
NHH serves as a member of the Community Scholars, a group formed by Azusa Pacific University to bring various sectors of the community together to work on a common goal. The NHH office in Azusa is a partner site for the Grassroots ESL Community Project led by Azusa City Library. NHH is a lead member on the Azusa Literacy Coalition, attempting to address the issues of school readiness and reading on grade level by Grade 3. They also offer seminars and classes to the Parents of the students they assist.
Chamber of Commerce Activity:
NHH has been an active Member of Irwindale Chamber of Commerce since 2005, attending the GMI breakfast regularly.
