MATTHEW ACOSTA

Young Citizen of the Year 2019

The Irwindale Chamber of Commerce and the City of Irwindale are pleased to announce Matthew Acosta as the Irwindale Young Citizen of the Year for 2019.

The 2019 Young Citizen of the Year Competition was held at the Irwindale Senior Center on Thursday, August 15, 2019. Three outstanding Irwindale youth competed by presenting an original essay discussing their thoughts on how they define success. The contestants also responded to impromptu questions from the judges. Matthew Acosta, Joshua Logan, and Alexander Burrola all impressed the judges with their confidence, poise, enthusiasm, thoughtfulness, and community involvement.

Irwindale Mayor Albert Ambriz, Councilmember H. Manuel Ortiz, Planning Commissioner Enoch Burrola, and City Assistant Manager Theresa Olivares were in attendance, along with the 2018 Young Citizen of the Year, John Fraijo. Also in attendance were Irwindale Chamber Board members and staff. Hope Cafe & Catering provided a lovely dinner. We also want to thank our Judges for volunteering their time to our youth; Dora Castro (Athens Services), London Lee (Foothill Transit), Martin Ramos (Century 21 Adams & Barnes), and Kayleen Ferrer (Hilton Garden Inn Arcadia).
